My name is Bill Burn, I am a Security Architect at The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. In this role, I help to design secure computer systems in our hybrid computing environments. In my more than 20 year Information Security career, I have worn many hats. I started working as a help desk technician, network and firewall engineer, systems administrator. But the lion's share of my career, I have been focused on Security Analysis, Incident Response, and Penetration Testing. This broad skill building has allowed me to understand how data, networks, and systems operate. This deliberate desire to learn how things work, why things work, and how to break things has lent itself very well to designing secure systems.
There are no shortcuts, there are no 2 week bootcamps. Information Security is a marathon, not a sprint. If you want to be great, you need to put in the reps and the hard work.

Interests
My current focus is learning and mastering DevSecOps. I have a number of projects that require some mastery over containers, development lifecycle, and continuous integration and delivery pipelines (all the Git's). I am also doing my best to continue learning Cloud technologies, after all, Cloud is evolving rapidly and to stay current, you need to learn daily.
As a security nerd, I am also heavily interested in learning how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) will play out. So far, the advances in AI have been profound. Its an interesting area for security research, one that I continue to monitor.
Thank you
Finally, I am glad that you stopped by, and if you have read this so far, you might be interested in Cloud, Security, or some goofy project that I am working on. If so, feel free to use any of the code blocks or write-ups that I post.
